Title: Balancing Doctrine and Revelation
Artist Statement:
This painting was created while I was a Young Woman's leader. Being surrounded by differing opinions, doctrine, and leadership was a real strain and struggle for me. Most of the girls in my Young Women's identified as LGBTQ members and if they didn't, they had many friends that did. When preparing for a lesson, I often had to seek deep personal revelation to figure out how to teach in a way that kept my integrity and aligned with the church. I found that balancing both was indeed difficult, and I wasn't very good at it, but created the most peace in me.
