Artist Statement:
The Star of David. The Emblem of Israel. “Let God Prevail” part 3/3 of my Temple Symbols series
This is what I’ve learned in my studies about this ✡️ symbol and why it might be found on our temples
🕍 in the Jewish religion, this symbol represents God reaching down to man and man reaching up to God. Truly the temple is where our reach can most meet His and renew our covenants.
🇮🇱The Star is found on Israel’s flag and is otherwise known as the Emblem of Israel. This symbol rightly finds its place on our temples where we do work to gather Israel on both sides of the veil as it represents the divine Israelite covenant
☀️In talking about the gathering of Israel this last General Conference, President Nelson taught us that another translation of Israel is “let God prevail” The definition of prevail is : prove more powerful than opposing forces; be victorious.
🙏 He also said “When we speak of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil, we are referring, of course, to missionary, temple, and family history work. We are also referring to building faith and testimony in the hearts of those with whom we live, work, and serve. 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞—𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥—𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐝, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥.”
Because this is the emblem of Israel and Israel can translate to, “Let God Prevail” and it is found on our temples, I am naming this piece “Let God Prevail”

🔘The circle represents eternity, perfection and heaven
🔳The square represents the earth and the 4 corners of the earth.
⛅️🌍The circle and square together symbolize where heaven and earth meet.
🌞This simple figure is the quintessential emblem for the temple. Truly where heaven and Earth meet.
I painted this to hang in my home to remind me to open up the channel to heaven in my own home daily.
